Anissa Butler is a Curriculum Designer & Instructor for The Discussion Project. Butler is a 30-year veteran Humanities teacher and Induction Mentor who has worked in schools, colleges and other Education Programs throughout Colorado such as the innovative New Vista High School in Boulder, The University of Colorado School of Education and PassageWorks Institute. Butler currently provides professional development to help educators incorporate engaged discussion, structured inquiry, and student and teacher self-reflection, as a way to support social justice through education. She values the opportunity to help educators learn how they can support inclusive practices that engage all learners. Butler’s dissertation, Voices from the Valley: The Experiences of People of Color Living and Working in a Predominantly White University Town, represents her dedication to address issues of inequity and social injustice. She is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
